«Nur wer mit ihnen vom Mohn aß» is an interactive inflatable that integrates a bio-feedback experience. This project was realised within our Artist Residency at Art Biesenthal 2022 in Berlin, in cooperation with geo – Die Luftwerker and Diptyque Paris. 

The architecture creates an embodied and tangible interface, that records the recipients‘ heart rates with sensors, calculates the average heart rate in real-time and finally outputs it as vibration feedback, giving every recipient the same tactile stimulus: the rhythm of the average heart rate. Heart rates can be influenced by external stimuli such as vibration. The thesis is that the heart rates converge in a feedback loop. 

While the inflatable and the ambisonic sound refer to the physical surrounding, being in-fluenced by the wind movement, the struc-ture inside refers to the inner of the recipients and reacts to their real-time physical state and influencing it in return.

Our aim was to design a space that reflects «immersion» as a social and individual condition that connects people within a collective sensory experience that minimises external and internal distractions, and implies an interactive component. Technology is entirely put in the background and only utilised as an intensifying tool. The free perception and movement in the space is centric. The space is designed to synchronise the recipients through similar stimuli and a holistic sensory approach. Visual, haptic, auditive and olfactory inputs are equalised.
